Facts
Lois Michoff (plaintiff) and Max Michoff (defendant) cohabitated without being married. They formed a corporation called Western States Construction, Inc. (Western States) (defendant). During their relationship, Lois and Max filed joint tax returns as husband and wife. Further, Lois signed a consent of spouse allowing Max to enter a business partnership. After Lois and Max ended their relationship, Lois filed suit against Max and Western States under community-property law. The trial court treated the assets acquired by Max and Western States during the relationship as community property and awarded Lois one-half of these assets.
