After a court has rendered a judgment awarding equitable relief, such as specific performance of a contract or an injunction, typically either a defendant complies with the order or is held in contempt of court for not complying. In some cases, however, a defendant refuses to comply, and a contempt sanction doesn’t achieve compliance. In such a case, a court has certain ancillary equitable remedies available.
