Davies and Wife v. Solomon
Queen’s Bench Court
LR 7 QB 112 (1871)
- Written by Kheana Pollard, JD
Facts
Solomon (defendant) said about Isabella Davies (plaintiff), “I can prove that John Davies’ wife had connection with a man named Labrach two years ago, but I would rather have the tongue cut out of my mouth than separate man and wife.” This accusation of adultery caused John Davies to separate from Isabella, and her friends stopped speaking with her. Isabella brought suit against Solomon for slander. Solomon brought a demurrer.
