Hodge v. Hodge
Pennsylvania Supreme Court
513 Pa. 264, 520 A.2d 15 (1986)
- Written by Sean Carroll, JD
Facts
Dr. Hodge (plaintiff) and Mrs. Hodge (defendant) were married with one child. While Dr. Hodge was in medical school, Mrs. Hodge worked and financially supported the family. Dr. Hodge filed a petition for divorce. The trial court found that equity required that economic responsibility be placed on Dr. Hodge to account for the sacrifices that Mrs. Hodge made while Dr. Hodge was in medical school. The trial court thus awarded Mrs. Hodge alimony of $100 per week for 14 years. The appellate court affirmed. Dr. Hodge appealed.
