Collective Bargaining
Learn about the collective-bargaining model in professional sports and collective-bargaining agreements between professional sports leagues and players associations.
Transcript
Collective bargaining is a process where employees negotiate with an employer to establish certain terms of employment, such as the employees’ salaries, benefits, and working conditions. The agreed-upon employment terms are then memorialized in an agreement known as a collective-bargaining agreement, or CBA. In sports, CBAs play an important role in establishing employment conditions that both the players associations and leagues agree to follow.
