The IDEAL Delegation Framework (Part 3)
Learn why being a resources connector is vital, how to ensure that your delegee understands the task, and how to let go without completely letting go.
As we’ve already seen, the best delegation follows a simple five-step framework:
- I - Introduce the task.
- D – Define the scope of the assignment, and clearly explain what you want done.
- E - Ensure understanding.
- A - Allocate authority, information, and resources.
- L - Let go.
We examined the first two steps in prior lessons. But before you can finish the briefing, and your delegee can get down to work, you still need to cover the last three. They’re all vital to a successful delegation briefing.
