Model Rule of Professional Conduct 8.4

Definition

Rule that requires lawyers to maintain the integrity of the legal profession. The rule provides it is professional misconduct for a lawyer to violate or knowingly assist or induce another to violate the Rules of Professional Conduct; commit a criminal act that reflects adversely on the lawyer’s honesty, trustworthiness, or fitness as a lawyer; engage in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation; engage in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice; state or imply an ability to improperly influence a government agency or official; knowingly assist a judge in violating the rules of judicial conduct; or engage in harassment or discrimination on the basis of race, sex, religion, national origin, ethnicity, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, or socioeconomic status.
