Sherman Act, § 1

Definition

States that every contract, combination in the form of trust or otherwise, or conspiracy, in restraint of trade or commerce among the several States, or with foreign nations, is declared to be illegal. Section 1 prohibits individuals, institutions, states, and foreign nations from engaging in conspiracies, arrangements, or contracts to restrain trade or commerce, or to otherwise manipulate commercial markets to reduce competition.
