Facts
In 1986, Cafazzo (plaintiff) had surgery to implant a jaw prosthesis. The device was later discovered to be defective. In 1992, Cafazzo brought suit against the physician who performed the surgery and Central Medical Health Services, Inc. (Central) (defendants) for strict liability on the grounds that they “provided, sold, or otherwise placed in the stream of commerce” the defective product. The product itself was manufactured by Vitek, Inc. Vitek, Inc. was not named as a defendant because it was bankrupt. The trial court held for Central, and Cafazzo appealed.
