Facts
Regina Satterfield (plaintiff) filed a negligence suit against Giant Food, Inc. (Giant) (defendant) after she slipped, fell down, and sustained injuries in a Giant grocery store. After a trial, the jury found Giant negligent and awarded Satterfield $2,500 for past medical expenses and $40,000 in non-economic compensatory damages. Giant appealed. Satterfield cross-appealed.
