New Jersey Superior Court
167 N.J. Super. 595, 401 A.2d 563 (1979)
- Written by Sarah Venti, JD
Facts
Reldan (defendant) was charged with two murders on one indictment. Two women from the same area of New Jersey were reported missing in the beginning of October 1975. At the end of the month, both women’s bodies were found in remote areas of New York not far from each other. Both women were found nude and both had been strangled with a pair of pantyhose. The women had the same neck injury which is rare in strangulation cases. The women were about the same age, weight, and height. Reldan seeks separate trials for each count on the indictment. He claims that joinder is prejudicial.
