Unemployment Benefits
Definition
Also called unemployment insurance, employers pay into state unemployment benefit programs and those programs then provide terminated employees with temporary income following termination. Employees must be terminated without cause to be eligible to claim benefits. Employees who are terminated for cause or who resign voluntarily are ineligible.
