Facts
Jahmel Binion (plaintiff) brought suit against Shaquille O’Neal (defendant) in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Binion claimed an invasion of privacy related to O’Neal’s posting of a mocking picture of Binion on social media. O’Neal, who had residences in Florida and Massachusetts, filed a motion to dismiss based on lack of personal jurisdiction. Binion presented evidence that O’Neal owned restaurants in Michigan and organized comedy shows at Michigan theaters.
