Definition

An exception to the hearsay rule, providing that a business record of an event made at or near the time of the event by someone with knowledge of the event is admissible if the record is made in the regular course of business, and it is the regular course of business to make such a record at the time of the event. The exception is codified in Federal Rule of Evidence 803(6).
